Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are text files that a website sends to the users’ terminals and that enable the site manager to store some of the data transmitted by the user’s browser during navigation. Cookies are used for computer authentication, for monitoring sessions and saving specific information regarding the users that access the server; a very large number of cookies are normally present in every user’s browser. While visiting a website, the user can also receive cookies sent by other sites or web servers (referred to as “third-party cookies”), which can contain elements (such as images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other dominions) present in the website that the user is visiting.

Types of cookies and cookies used in the Art-er.it site

a) FIRST-PARTY technical cookies (non-persistent/session)

Technical cookies are those used only to “carry out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or insofar as this is strictly necessary to the provider of a WEB service explicitly requested by the user to provide said service”. They are used for additional purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner or manager. They can be divided into browsing or session cookies, which allow users to navigate and use a website (enabling them, for example, to make online purchases or to authenticate themselves to access restricted areas). Installation of these cookies does not require the users’ prior consent. Session cookies contain the information that is used in your current browser session. These cookies are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. Nothing is stored in the visitor’s computer after the visit is over.

The ART-ER site does not use this type of cookies.

b) FIRST-PARTY persistent technical cookies
Persistent cookies are used to hold information that is used between visits to the website, or used for technical purposes and to improve site browsing. This information enables sites to recognise you as a returning visitor or user and to behave accordingly. The duration of persistent cookies is fixed by the website and can vary between a few minutes to several years; they are stored until expiry or deletion.

The ART-ER site does not use this type of cookies.

c) FIRST-PARTY analytical cookies
Analytical cookies, also referred to as “analytics”, make it possible to produce detailed statistics on website use, such as page views, number of visitors, time spent by users in the site and source through which they accessed the site. Analytics cookies are assimilated with technical cookies when used directly by the website manager to gather information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and on the way they visit the website.

The ART-ER site uses this type of cookies.

d) THIRD-PARTY analytical cookies with anonymized IP
in this case the statistical system (Analytics) anonymizes the address as soon as it is technically possible in the stage before the network where the data is collected. In general, the IP anonymization function sets the last octet of IPv4 user IP addresses and the last 80 bits of IPv6 addresses to zeros in memory shortly after being sent to the Analytics Collection Network. The full IP address is never written to disk in this case.

The ART-ER site does not use this type of cookies.

e) THIRD-PARTY analytical cookies with NON-anonymized IP Analytical
cookies, also referred to as “analytics”, make it possible to produce detailed statistics on website use, such as page views, number of visitors, time spent by users in the site and source through which they accessed the site.

The ART-ER site does not use this type of cookies.

f) FIRST-PARTY profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are designed to create user profiles and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences shown by users during web navigation, sharing this information with other subjects, such as advertisers. European and Italian regulations provide that visitors may object to the use of such cookies.

he ART-ER site does not use this type of cookies.

g) THIRD-PARTY profiling cookies
Third-party profiling cookies could be used, in an independent manner not directly controllable by ART-ER, to collect information on the activities performed by the visitor during navigation. This information could be used to offer advertising in line with their interests, based on the contents visited, or to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Such cookies may be contained in various elements of a web page, e.g. advertising banners, pictures, videos, etc. An example is the presence of so-called “social plugins” or “social sharing buttons” of the main social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn), used for sharing the contents of the web page on these social networks. The use of data collected through third-party cookies, on which ART-ER does not exercise any kind of control, is governed by the relevant privacy policies, which we invite you to refer to.
